New Texas Legislation

While the Texas Legislature passed several bills effective September 1st, below are a few that employers need to know;

• The “CROWN Act” prohibits discrimination based on hair texture or protective hairstyle associated with race.
• Physical and electronic notices for employees regarding how to contact a workplace violence hotline must be posted. The TWC has until March 1, 2024 to develop a model poster.
• Healthcare facilities must adopt workplace violence prevention plans by September 1, 2024.
• Failure to require a vaccination against COVID-19 will not by itself make a business owner liable for an employee’s exposure to a pandemic disease by a coworker.
